About us

Helping women rise with learning, dignity, and opportunity.

Aminatu Shaibu Foundation exists to stand beside women and single mothers facing barriers to learning, confidence, wellbeing, and economic opportunity. We believe compassionate action should be both immediate and sustainable.

Our Story

The Aminatu Shaibu Foundation was born from the life and legacy of Aminatu Shaibu, a woman who refused to give up.

Aminatu Shaibu was a single mother of six children. Without formal education, financial privilege, or family support, she carried the full responsibility of raising her children alone. Every school fee, hospital bill, rent payment, and meal came from the small businesses she ran daily with determination and sacrifice.

She represents millions of women across Nigeria and Africa whose strength often goes unseen.

The foundation was established in her memory to honor women like her; widows, single mothers and struggling femal breadwinners who are already working hard through petty trading and small businesses but lack the tranining, support and capital needed to truly grow and thrive.

Rather than creating dependency, we believe in empowering women who are already trying. We provide practical business training in areas such as bookkeeping, customer service, marketing, financial management, and business growth strategies. After training, selected participants receive financial support to help strengthen and expand their existing businesses.

At Aminatu Shaibu Foundation, we believe that empowering one woman can transform an entire household, community, and future generation

Our mission

To empower widows and single mothers.

We are committed to helping women build sustainable sources of income with dignity, confidence, and long-term impact through practical business education, mentorship, and financial support that strengthens the small businesses they depend on for survival and family stability.

Our vision

Communities where every woman is equipped to learn, contribute, and give forward.

We envision a world where widows and single mothers are not trapped by poverty, lack of education or limited opportunities, but are empowered to build thriving businesses, raise confident families, and contribute meaningfully to their communities and economies.
